Pharmacognosy
The Department of Pharmacognosy in the M.Pharmacy program deals with the study of crude drugs of natural origin obtained from plants, animals, and marine sources. The department focuses on identification, authentication, phytochemical investigation, isolation of bioactive constituents, herbal drug standardization, quality control, and development of herbal formulations.
The program integrates traditional knowledge of medicinal plants with modern analytical and biotechnological approaches such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and plant tissue culture. The department aims to prepare skilled professionals for herbal industries, phytopharmaceutical companies, research organizations, academia, and regulatory sectors.
