The department provides fundamental knowledge of medicinal plants, phytochemistry, herbal drug technology, and quality control of herbal medicines.<br \/>\nThe department focuses on identification, collection, authentication, processing, and standardization of natural drugs along with extraction, isolation, and characterization of phytoconstituents. The laboratories are equipped to perform pharmacognostical evaluation, microscopy, phytochemical screening, and preparation of herbal formulations.<br \/>\nThe department also promotes awareness about traditional systems of medicine and encourages research in herbal drug development and natural product-based therapeutics.
